There are 2 reviews. ★★★★★NetworkGuy2012-11-05 09:05:47 This is the best night vision camera I have worked with. This is an expensive camera and it is low res, but the night vision is the best. There is no other camera which will work at night with no IR.
The settings are nightmare though. They are Very (very) complicated. To set up your motion detection is a multi-step process, to add a NAS drive is a multi-step process, almost everything requires 3 pages of near-cryptic settings! Vivotek needs to update the firmware pronto, what happened to single page setups!?
If you need superior night vision, this is the camera to buy! Don't let the settings put you off, just be prepared for a bit of fiddling and head scratching. ★★★★★CameraBuyer2012-04-02 16:47:02 Excellent low light camera. The image quality and colour is excellent, even for a low resolution camera.
Night vision is wow even without Infra Red (works with just ambient lights).
I highly recommend the Vivotek IP8330 security camera for areas which require night monitoring.
The disadvanatge is the really bad and nightmare setup screens. All the menus are interlinked in such a way that I had to email the supplier for help on setting the IP8330 camera up. There is no firmware upgrade available.
I notice that there is now a 1 Megapixel IP8332 camera, I hope they improved the setup screens.
The camera has a SD card slot for when the network goes off, which is great. Problem though, it won't use the SD if any network is present, even if it stops recording. A small annoyance.
The Vivotek IP8332 can record to the SD card, or to a external drive (SAMBA), to FTP. It also allows DDNS - good!
It is suppose to send email alerts, but I still have not figured this out (thanks to the complicated setup screens!) Reviews have been submitted by users and do not necessarily reflect our own opinion.
