The TFT monitor, or LCD monitor is the flat, thin monitors exactly the same as those found on laptops. TFT monitors tend to be more expensive due to the low sucess rate of getting a perfect product in the manuafcturing process. TFT monitors are also susceptible to dead pixels, from the factory and during it's lifetime. Dead pixels and full-on pixels are when single dots in the monitor remain dark or bright permanently. Screen sizes are given in inches. 1 inch = 2.54cm. This measurement is given as the diagonal length from the bottom left edge of the screen to the top right edge of the screen. Most monitors are manufactured in the ratio of 1.333 length x 1 height (4:3). Some monitors are manufctured in the wide screen format, and this is 16:9 (1.777 wide and 1 high) Did you know?
