Precision Cinema Progressive
Using twice the number of scanning lines compared to the more common interlaced format, Progressive Scan is able to accurately reproduce the naturalness of rocks, water and even the texture of skin. Clearly notice the difference on a large-screen TV, where scanning lines from interlaced scanning are quite apparent. A poor Progressive Scan system does not feature the advanced technology to distinguish scenes combining a variety of elements, such as after effects, resulting in the phenomenon depicted above. Sony’s Precision Cinema Progressive is equipped to recognize such elements, resulting in excellent picture playback.
